Pretending to write
poetry is risky

What if I get caught?
Who will believe

a word I’ve dropped
on the page?

I’m going to stop
pretending

My attempts
at writing poetry

so far have been
tadpoles at best

struggling
in a muddy puddle

I hope I don’t die
before I croak
