arose a rose without spikes, unshaded
softness
scattering delicate dreams through the air
tickling
veiny leaves, mundane bees, an undesired
fondness
predating papa bears, and heinous hares
tingling
with such profane heat, which brewed unkind plots
behind
backs of hills with eyes, breaches, peeping trees
thickets
in dungeons already packed with petals
there, dined-
on pink vanilla bones, strawberry puff
wickets
bowled awry, to be devoured at the pitch
by thorns
in the russet souls of trusted giants
that caught
unguarded rosebuds, husked their blooms for teas
like corns
stock images of nightmares come real
we’re fraught
sepals bleeding, jaded, disharmonized
layers
sheared by odium, scented flowers robbed
by spears
