I mean, put my car in your pool
you know we are never going
to forestry school together
no food, no water
Omaha Beach ya know

my heart looks like a fish
out of it, I will build
a cabin in the wilderness
and touch your cat
which seems too much sometimes

it’s strange the way conversations go
if I scroll to the bottom of the page beyond the words
there will be empty space to excite my imagination
and the guitar player suddenly flurries the notes
as drama, not genius, is the thing

also, keep it short even if one thing
leads to another and you find yourself
standing in front of an abandoned
and overgrown gas station
out on Rt. 66
a good time to drink more coffee
content & context working together
so you can wonder about things
and wallow in the lore of life

besides, we were never serious about
forestry school in the first place
we just wanted to walk around in the woods
and be with the sound of
the wind in the trees

Sunken ships--the rats calling the place home didn't make it out either--the oldest daughter didn't like me to begin with and Momma didn't know what to do with my love in the corral--I decided not to wait around for the movie and headed for Arizona where I met Jaci--she liked me pretty much and was into history--I told her I would meet her in the Indian ruins that night for love in the dust--

she said, "oooooooooo that makes me so wet!"

How did I do, Jay? Is this what you were looking for?
