i love my son
i love each of my sons
i have loved them for a long time
i love each and all of my sons very much
one day i might tell them this

but its hard to put love into words
and what good would it do
so i’ll just continue to show them instead
experience and inference is the best way really
i’ll just keep the words for a poem about
how much i love my sons
one day when they become dads
i might show it to them
so they understand why
when we drive past the cemetery
i wind down the car window
and shout i love you dad

Cameron McClure doesn’t exist. He is the pen-name for a  permanently retired civil servant who lives in Northern Ireland and likes nothing better than competitive banter over a pint or two. He believes it will all come right on the night because he’s happier that way and no-one has yet proved him wrong though a lot of well-meaning people try to for some reason.
