Hoi An Ancient Town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. The town was badly hit by the pandemic. It has been almost inactive for two years, as no tourist visited. However, the sun is still shining on the golden walls, flowers keep blooming vigorously, some windows are still open to invite the air, and a lady wearing Vietnamese traditional dress is bringing flowers to worship in the town’s central temple. These little things may be enough to keep the town alive. — Hang Mai
