Water in toilet is frozen.
Shit piling up on top
(took a good one this
morning,
though I don’t know
from what).

Mop bucket of water
harvested ten days ago
to flush toilet is
frozen solid.

Four-inch icicle
depending
from kitchen
faucet.

Pissing in kitchen sink.
Piss frozen.
Sink nearly full.

Kitchen sink
of frozen
piss.

Met a howling, hysterical
naked dog on the walk
to the corner
store
to get more beer and
cigs.

She was freezing,
hugging my leg,
trying to jump
into my arms.

Desperate.
Pleading.
Eager.
Hopeful.

Life or death
and she knew it
and I knew it.

A pit bull mix
with ten
swinging teats.

Probably puppies
under some house.

I left her to die and
walked on.
