[Lyrics to Love That Summer Rain]

A light rain turned the alleyway into a slow blues
dusk settled in but didn’t make me sad
I took a few dance steps through the puddles
not that I was overjoyed, happy or real glad.

I wasn’t going to be taking orders from anybody
anywhere, anymore I double damn swore
I wouldn’t be obedient like a little pup to nobody
so let that summer rain go right ahead and pour

OO – how about that sudden summer rain
don’t it make you feel so good
it takes away alla’ that old pain

No umbrella, I gladly let the drops wash my face
at the far end of the rain there’s a crack in the sky
enough to let the sun at last slip back into place
I didn’t mention I was headed for your door do or die

You’ve never seen anything so beautiful
as my lover walking toward me in the rain
my heart, my soul turned suddenly full
it’s what stays with me as a sweet refrain

(refrain)

I work with words, sounds and images to come up

with combinations that hopefully do justice to Socrates’

maxim of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.

I do believe that the voice is a necessary part of the

full poetic experience, along with music and movement,

even if it’s a movement of the hands or eyes.
