A black leaping buck
painted on a yellow diamond
both warns & welcomes me.
There is no need for words.

My green house has red awnings
& brown rabbit kits hiding
under juniper branches
in the front yard.

I’m a newcomer
in this old neighborhood;
the fruit & nut trees are mature,
the photinia thrive.

The driveway is steep.
It’s late spring
& I have a view I can die for,
sun light & fresh air for roommates.
