Morning Sketch, 74, Drizzle

he wrote,
and rolled
letters of love
on tiny sheets
of cigarette papers

twisted ends
and ran them through
puckered lips
with French kisses
and melancholy

carefully tucked
in broken mortar
that only he
remembered where
he put them

with anxiety
he hoped
she would find
the map
he’d hung

in broken brick
on the wall
of his loneliness
if only she’d return
to his house of regret
