like catnip were illegal
Carla stared at the dust ball
                                                                   with romantic mysticism

                                                                   I held an intervention
                                                                   she lamented her lust
                                                                   for the neighbor’s Chihuahua

                                                                   slurped at her bowl
                                                                   fell into an unconscious sleep
                                                                   where love has no boundaries
