I remember being a little kid and staring at the fattest guy at the pool
what a brat
well anyway, justice is served, because now he’s me

I’m sure the kids calling each other “retard”
have snuck a peek at this stupid gut that has just gone outta control recently
it was enough to almost make me wanna not go to the pool
but I did

when I jumped in
the lifeguard said “that looked like total relief”
and it was
a total baptism of the dead leaves that sat in the pool water all winter
and floated around in my head
my fat belly even fell off

I’m glad she said that too because I may not have noticed otherwise
and I like how she said it
that in this dead yellow grass world
sitting in the sun
like dried piss
total relief is still possible
