I’ve long wanted
an excuse
to shuffle my feet
to take small steps
to own a few canes
My favorite
is a walking stick
my shepherd’s staff
I pretend I am Jesus
40 years off the cross
with a hole
in each foot
& everyone I meet
is a money changer
in the Temple
