Barefoot Penance

Barefoot Penance

I am not a difficult person especially when sleeping
but last night, well, to whom do I apologize?
I lost my shoes, first one and while looking for it
the other slipped off
like a backward Cinderella
at the end of the dream
I was barefoot
and alone
to whom do I complain?
this morning I left my shoes behind
this was not a gesture of apology
nor an ode to fairy tales
but a simple human glitch
I forgot my shoes in the way people forget a hat

meteorite crows everywhere
the lake so wild will not have me
frantic gulls

the wind passes through me properly like blood
to whom do I tell this story?
to whom do I whisper
this is marvellous
