Our Eastern jet rescheduled 5 minutes back
to fly an hour late
is boarding now and threatening to leave
3/4 of an hour sooner.
The attendant says
they will not wait for missing passengers!
Life isn’t fair, he says.
We’ll get them on the next flight out.
Ballooning murmurs:
nobody had known this was a possibility.
How dare they—but we’re glad!
Why should last minute assholes
slow us down?
We’re yearning for the runway, lift-off, skies.
