1. Fame and Fortune
I believed in martyred Catholic saints and hoped life was a never-ending
Disney fairy tale.
Now I am perfect, no shadows but my own.
I witness the miracle of a grain of sand. A mustard seed.
I throw no stones to save my soul.
2. How We Write Poetry
Before I met you,
I wanted you.
We tried every position
and became bored, angry
or tight-lipped, kept the poetry inside.
When we said goodbye, I cried,
I think you cried a little, too.
I am alone now. So are you.
Nothing keeps us apart.
Everything stays the same.
